Which VR Headset to Buy in 2019?
“Once you have perfect virtual reality, what else are you supposed to perfect?”

It’s evident that virtual reality is the future of technology, especially in the gaming and multimedia industry. And an Iconic man must always be up to date with the latest gadget trends, which is Virtual Reality in this case. But there seems to be so many VR Headsets that are available on the market today, so which one should you buy?
HTC Vive
The HTC Vive is more than just a VR Headset, it’s a cool system. You set up cameras to track your position and you connect the headset to your PC using wires. Maybe what I like the most about this one is its room scale tracking technology so you don’t end up at the front door of your neighbors. But you still have to go through the burden of connecting all the wires and setting up the entire play scene. And it’s definitely not a portable one, so I think you’d have to pick a place for it and stick to it. But if you’re someone who doesn’t move around a lot, I think this should be no problem for you.
HTC Vive Pro
I also have to mention the Vive Pro which is an enhanced version of the original Vive with plenty of new features like eye-tracking, higher resolution, and 3D spatial audio, a fantastic piece of VR equipment! The only thing keeping me from highly recommending it to you is its current price (starting from $879 USD). However, if you don’t mind the price it might be worth it, after all, to cross that extra mile and get it.
Generally speaking, the best thing about the HTC Vive is that there’s plenty of splendid content for it on VivePort and Steam. And they’re just getting started with their upcoming exciting video game releases.
Oculus Rift
Honestly, I think this device was the beginning of the real Virtual Reality. I remember when the Development Kit was available to some people and I started watching some video game streamers on Twitch and YouTube use it, I instantly fell in love with it, and I knew that Oculus was going to have a bright future in VR, and I was right.
Today, the Oculus Rift is considered as one of the most popular VR headsets out there. If you asked me to compare it with the Vive, I’d tell you that they’re very similar in terms of their headset. But I loved the Oculus touch controllers more, they just feel more comfortable in your hands. However, their room scale tracking isn’t as good as the Vive, so I think it really depends on you. For example, if you prefer to play while you’re sitting on your couch or simply watch a movie, then I don’t think the room scale would matter which makes the Rift the winner because it’s actually cheaper. Otherwise, go for the Vive.
Oculus Go
If you want to buy a headset that is completely portable to get rid of all the messy wires, the Oculus Go is your most convenient option, it’s a standalone platform that allows you to download games from Oculus’s software store. I think this headset is the best value for money, with a current price of only $199 USD.
However, these perks come at a greater cost, the Oculus Go, unfortunately, doesn’t allow you to connect to your PC, which means that you can’t access games on Steam VR and other VR stores, that makes you pretty much stuck with only a selected portion of apps and games, so it’s kind of a risk. And also, the Oculus Go (refresh rate: 60 Hz) doesn’t provide a smooth experience like the Rift (refresh rate: 90 Hz). I’m not really sure if you really care about these points, but if you’re just looking for a decent VR headset that you can take anywhere with you and still has plenty of cool content, the Go is without a doubt the winner.
PlayStation VR
I’m not really a fan of the PS VR because I think it has too many limitations. For example, you’re only allowed to use it on games from the PlayStation Store. And also, I feel that the immersion isn’t as good as the Rift and the Vive, so both of these things make the Playstation VR a miss for me. But I have to admit that there are some great exclusive content for it too, and who knows what they’re up to, if they decided to go for “The Last of Us VR” then I’m already sold. For now, I would recommend this VR headset to you only if you already own a PS4.
I consider these as the most popular VR headsets due to their build quality and the large companies supporting them. Of course, there are many other VR headsets on the market and some of them may even be much better, but I wouldn’t recommend spending your money on these headsets because I think it’s only a matter of time before their companies stop supporting them because something better becomes available, it’s just a big risk to spend your money on something that you’re not sure where it’s heading. That’s why I suggest that you trust big organizations like HTC, Oculus, and PlayStation.
