For most people, fishing is almost a family tradition with its knowledge being passed down from one generation to another. It is also one of the very many fun activities that you can do together with your family irrespective of their age. It is relatively cheap, easy to arrange because you can get the gear from any fishing store close to you, pick an area that’s not too far away from where you live and start your own family tradition. For charter fishing, all you need is to find a fishing charter around you which you can easily do by going online and book a time that is convenient for you for a very small amount and you even get to keep your haul which with the right guidance is usually very big.

Another activity you can engage in with your family is tennis. There are many tennis courts scattered all around you that you can make use of for this purpose. Even if you don’t know how to play, you can always learn by paying for a coach who can train you and your family which is a good thing because you don’t just have the experience of doing something together but you also have the experience of learning something together. What else? Tennis is a sport that has been said be good for the overall health and well being of persons of all ages because of the wide range of movements that are necessary for fully participating in the sport.

Did you know that according to an infographic by the Red Rover Camping and the 2014 American Camper Report, it was discovered that over 14 percent of the US population went camping between 2012 and 2013? An amazing number on all accounts because we are talking about over forty million people here who whether they meant to or not have endorsed camping as a must-do-activity.
If you have decided on camping as your family activity, one thing you should pay attention to is the fact you don’t want to go very far from your house or pick a place that is surrounded by wildlife, that is a common misconception about camping. You can always pitch your tent in your backyard, make a campfire with your family and share stories with one another. This activity is also practically free. All you need to do is to get a tent and sleeping bags which you can re-use any other time you want to go camping with your family.

If you are the type of person who likes to give back to the society as much as it has given to you, then volunteering might be one of the few things that you might enjoy doing with your family. Even if you haven’t done it before, volunteering is something that is considered as generally altruistic and it can come in any form from helping the gardening club plant seeds and bulbs to helping the librarian with arranging books. Just make sure that whatever volunteering activity you settle on is something that everyone in the family would really enjoy.

This is also one of the activities that you can do with your family right in your backyard. All you need is a grill, the meat and the utensils set out beforehand. You can even invite some of your friends if you don’t think you can eat all the meat you’ve gotten alone and make it into a mini barbecue party. This activity is especially fun because you have a fun time setting out the utensils with your family and you can also get to know what they like through the conversations you may have during this relaxed period. If you want to have a barbecue and you don’t know how you can check one of the numerous websites on recipes for one.
What better way is there to spend a nice afternoon than at a park or a lakeside with your family enjoying the scenery while eating some nice home cooked meal that you have prepared for that particular occasion. This activity is a free one which can make your family develop as much enthusiasm for life as they might need to get them through tough times in the future. You can also spend quality together, meet other people who have come to the park for one reason or the other and also have your kids mingle with other kids all at once. The downside of this though is that your kids might want to keep coming back every weekend.
Remember, it is through a sound relationship with their family that children can build their self-esteem along with a positive attitude towards life. Of course, I know, that there are a lot of activities like going on a trip, visiting a museum, going to the zoo and so on that are not included in this list and there is a reason for that. It is because every family is different and while we think your family might enjoy the activities above the most, you are the only one who knows them the most so you can think anything up even if it's fictional as long as they will enjoy it.
