Most anticipated new movie releases of 2019 - Get that popcorn ready
Who doesn’t love a good movie? Chilling with a nail-biter or a great comedy for 2 hours, munching popcorn, sounds awesome! Here are the movies to schedule and not miss.
In recent years, the majority of movies that have been released have been less than thrilling and as a film junkie I’ve felt cheated. Nevertheless, I don’t lose hope in the world of cinema and at last, I’m actually looking forward to a number of new movie releases with excitement. You must include all 10 of them in your list. My current Top 10 includes something for everyone: from thrillers to superhero action. Get that popcorn ready and indulge, with these great previews.
Captain Marvel
Release Date: 8 March 2019
Marvel Studios’ first female-led superhero production and we have super high expectations since the amazing Brie Larson is starring. She is Carol Danvers ie Captain Marvel who is an ex-US Air Force fighter pilot and is gifted with (what else?) but superhuman strength. Expect a lot of intergalactic fighting whilst Larson explores her past and identity.
Pet Sematary
Release Date: 5 April 2019
As a Stephen King lover, I strongly believe that the writer’s cinematographic writing is perfect for the big screen. Case and point, the movies’ trailer. Just by watching the trailer you get creeped out and despite having a familiar plot (if you’re a King fan you know what I’m talking about), you can’t help but gag yourself, so you won’t scream. It starts off when the family’s cat gets run over by a truck and they decide to bury it. Then all hell breaks loose.
Avengers: Endgame
Release Date: 26 April 2019
Marvel is on a roll and keeps producing films. After the Infinity War ending, fans globally anticipated Endgame. This movie has to tie a lot of loose ends and decide the fate of most characters as well as the rest of the earth. Can the Iron Man overturned things by taking down Thanos?
Toy Story 4
Release Date: 21 June 2019
Move over 10-year olds, I’ve been waiting for the ending of the Toy Story saga since I was 5 (you do the math). Well, all the toys have a new owner called Bonnie and of course Woody has a problem with a new toy. That’s all we know for now but if I were you, I’d be bringing tissues to the movie theatre.
Spider-Man: Far From Home
Release Date: July 2019
Set after the Avengers: Endgame, this Spider-Man installment is the sequel of the 2017’s Homecoming movie. Peter Parker goes on a school trip abroad and of course he has to battle extraterrestrial humanoids called the Elemental. We expect a lot of fighting and cool CGIs.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
Release Date: 26 July 2019
Just by the fact that this is a Tarantino movie, we know that it will be big since he got both Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt to star in it. They play to aspiring TV stars hoping to make it in 1969 Hollywood. The story revolves around the Manson Family murders from which we can predict that this movie will be truly Tarantinian, filled with violence and tensions.
It: Chapter Two
Release Date: 6 September 2019
For all of those who made it through the 2017 film and still manage to sleep at nights, the sequel is for you. The gang who were searching Georgie after his disappearance is 27 years older and determined to end It (get the pun?). So if you are not terrified by creepy clowns, hit the cinemas and brag about it afterwards.
Joker
Release Date: October 4, 2019
A comic-book inspired movie, directed by Todd Phillips and starring Joaquin Phoenix. Phoenix is a failed stand-up comedian who naturally turns into a psychotic anarchist. The fact that the director also directed the Hangover, thrills me. I am curious how Alan Moore’s graphic novel The Killing Joke will be portrayed on screen, but I do expect a lot of dark characters and action.
The Goldfinch
Release date: 11 October 2019
*This is not the official trailer, is a fan made, as it hasn't been released yet. Once the official trailer is released it will be uploaded Another book turned into movie, it follows the life of Theodore Decker who survived a terrorist attack at the Met. Donna Tartt’s won a Pulitzer for this novel and we hope the movie will get at least one Oscar. Nicole Kidman and Luke Kleintank star in it and I am curious to see how Theodore’s decline in the criminal life will be portrayed. In case you haven’t read the book (which you should by the way) Theodore during the mayhem of the attack steals a Dutch painting which leads him down the line in art forgery.
Star Wars: Episode IX release date: 20 December 2019
Release Date: 20 December 2019
* This is just the cast announcenment. Once the official trailer drops we will upload it.
The final instalment of Star Wars is directed by J.J. Abrams who promised this will be an “emotionally resonant finale”. After the death of Carrie Fisher in 2016, the producers had to work out how create the movie without her. The speculations are that previously shot footage will be used. I am so curious to see how they handled it.
These 10 movies are definitely on my list, since they all have the main components I'm looking for: action, great directors, amazing actors and killer plots. Hopefully, none of them will be a let down. Comment below if you feel like we should include more movies in this list or you can send your reviews after watching any of the above-mentioned movies (the best will get published). We have another article which includes more films, check it out! And most importantly, don’t forget the popcorn.
