Insane VR Games You Must Play ASAP
“From floating around with our friends in space to living inside the world of Minecraft, VR got us filled with excitement and joy this year”
Since the very first release of the Oculus Rift DK1 (Developers Kit 1) and I was sold on Virtual Reality. I knew that this was a huge turning point in the gaming world. 6 years later, and I’m still on the winning side as VR has become one of the most popular ways that people like to play their video games.
Today, I’ve brought you some of the craziest VR video games that you should try the second you wear a VR headset. Are you ready to have some fun?

Lone Echo

What’s better than VR in space? This single-player game puts you right in the center of a spaceship in space and you get to explore it as you progress through the missions. I couldn’t believe how realistic the graphics were in this game, it felt like I was really onboard the spaceship and I’ve always wanted to get in the astronauts’ shoes. Although I didn’t feel like Neil Armstrong or anything, because the missions weren’t as important, and in my head, I knew all the time that I was in a single player game, not affecting anything in the real world; But that didn’t keep me from falling in love with the game. As for the free movement style with zero gravity, it’s just something that you have to try out for yourself. One of the best experiences out there.
Space Junkies

I’m not done with space yet, there’s another spectacular first-person shooter in VR that you must try. Think it would be cool to get out of the spaceship and float around in space? That’s exactly what this game allows you to do. Even better, you get to play with your friends in Multiplayer mode and shoot each other while floating around the planets and the asteroids. I really think I can play this game for hundreds of hours and not get bored, because unlike the Lone Echo, you’re actually playing with real people in this one, so you’re not just traveling to space solo, and hell yes, this adds tons of more fun.
Beat Saber

Available on HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and PlayStation VR

Enough with the shooting, how about slashing? Imagine that you’re holding two sabers in both of your hands and listening to some fast-exciting song and you’re slashing colored blocks along with the pacing of the beat. Sounds like a crazy good workout, right?
Well it is, the game is super addictive and it does to VR just what Fruit Ninja did to iPhone Apps when it first came out. In addition to all of this, the game looks gorgeous with its neon colors. Think about The Darth Vader holding his saber, dancing and kicking ass on a hyper beat, that’s how you’re exactly going to look like playing it, and that’s why this should be on everyone’s VR games list.
Batman: Arkham VR

Available on HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and PlayStation VR

Available on HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and PlayStation VR
Ever dreamed of saying “I’m Batman”? Too bad, you can’t say that in the real world without being sarcastic, but that’s why we have VR.
The good news is you can actually do that in Arkham VR. The game allows you to literally be in Batman’s shoes and fight the villains of Arkham City. I was really worried this VR game would ruin the awesomeness of the original Batman ones, but I was surprised they haven’t, they were able to maintain the same excellent quality. And I’m not talking only about the graphics, but also the story is just as awesome as any other Batman video game, except that this one, you’re literally looking from the mask of Batman, and you’ll feel that Arkham has never been closer to you.
I really didn’t want this game to end, my only problem with it is that it was too short for me (nearly 1 hour of gameplay) but I’m hoping for a sequel or something. Guess it’s time for you to finally meet the joker face-to-face.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR

Available on HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and PlayStation VR

Available on HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and PlayStation VR
Remember Skyrim? If you don’t Skyrim is considered as one of the best games of all time, it’s a fan favorite from almost every true video gamer. It was popular for its massive world and engaging plot, its scale was very big and you could roam around its map for hours, wandering around in the jungle climbing up mountains and engaging yourself in combats with swords.
Now imagine all of this reinvented for a VR platform, UNBELIEVABLE. It was too good to be true, so many people started doubting the quality of it. Turned out they were wrong, and the game is incredible at transporting you from your own couch to the mesmerizing world of Skyrim. Aside from the story (since its Skyrim we know it can’t go wrong), what really shines in this game is the world around you. It’s big of course, but it’s also wonderful; Damn I think if it got more realistic in the future, people would avoid traveling abroad in holidays and just do it through VR, this is what this game got me thinking after a few plays.

Superhot VR

Available on HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and PlayStation VR

Available on HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and PlayStation VR
In case you haven’t tried the original Superhot. It’s an action game where you have to fight A.I human-like bodies in a room until it’s all clear so you can get to the next level. What’s the twist with this game? Time only moves forward when you move, turn around, or basically do anything. So, you have to carefully think which enemy to take out first and which bullet not to miss. Now, think about doing this in VR. I’ll leave this here; You do the math.
This could be one of the most enjoyable games for me on this list, it got me really nervous playing it (and I mean that in a good way), and it gets really challenging as you progress through the levels as the enemies become more badass, but trust me, you don’t want to miss out on this one.
I really want to thank everyone who’s behind these genius games for giving me the joy I had while playing them. If you haven’t tried them out yet, I highly suggest that you do. And if you haven’t decided which VR headset to buy yet, I hope this article can help you (a reference to VR headset article).
Do you know any other cool VR games? Please tell me in the comments below, I can’t wait to try more!
