The latest and greatest must-have Gaming platforms
Video games become more and more popular each day. With approximately 2.3 billion gamers in the world, one can assume that gaming is one of the most -if not the most- trendy hobbies there is. Thus, any Iconic man might want to get himself into gaming. However, to be able to play video games you do need a gaming platform. So fortunately for you, I will help you choose one!
Budget
The first thing you’ll have to take into account is how much money you are willing to spend. If you’re only planning on playing some casual games at the weekend to relax, then a PC would be rather expensive compared to another console. But if you want to be more competitive or play a wide variety of video games throughout your week then a console would be inadequate.
Famous video game consoles such as the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4 and the Nintendo Switch can be purchased for around $300 whereas a good gaming PC can cost you from $500 to $3000. Also consider that console games are more expensive on release ($70) while you can purchase PC games for ($40).

Lifespan
Another important factor is the lifespan of your system. On average, consoles last for 6 years but some of them can last for longer. PC’s on the other hand, can be upgraded over time or can have their parts replaced if they are broken, so, PC’s are kind of immortal.
What kind of games you enjoy
If you love strategy games like me, then a PC is the way to go, but if you want to play action or sports games then you’ll want to buy a console. Generally, strategy, simulation, real-time strategy and Moba games are best on a PC. Sports, action and arcade games work better on a console.

Online
Online multiplayer can be more fun on a PC for a lot of reasons. Firstly, it’s free whereas on consoles to access online you must pay for a membership which costs about $60/year. Additionally, PC offers you access to text chat in addition to voice chat. Moreover, based on personal experience, I found that PC players were more sociable and open, and you will likely make some good friends!
Couch co-op
While PC gaming excels in online multiplayer, consoles are way better in terms of a relaxing co-op gaming session with a friend or loved one. Most console games are designed in a way that endorses co-op play and they support split screen. Some people -myself included- believe couch co-op can be a date that will definitely satisfy a nerdy girl!

Graphics
During the past years, console graphics have gotten better. Now with the PS4 Pro and the Xbox One X offering 4K resolution, they can truly compete with the PC. PC graphics depend solely on your build. Low-end builds ($500) can play games at medium graphics settings with 60 fps. On the other hand, high-end builds ($3000) can play games at ultra-high graphics settings with up to 240 fps.
Which console is best for me?
If you have decided to get a console instead of a PC, you’ll still have to decide on which console is the best for you. The main contenders are: Microsoft’s Xbox One, Sony’s PlayStation 4 and the Nintendo Switch. It all comes down to the exclusives of each console. Notable exclusives include Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for the Nintendo Switch, God of War for the PlayStation 4 and Halo 5 for the Xbox One.

Other uses for your platform
My final point in this article are what other uses each platform offers to the user. The PC offers unlimited utility to a user. For example, I use my gaming PC to work, to watch TV and socialise on social media. Consoles have their own streaming services and loads of programs and apps but there isn’t anything that a console can offer that a PC can’t in terms of services.
Conclusion
A PC and any console are great gaming systems. To choose one you must recognise your needs and plan accordingly. My own personal gaming setup involves an Xbox, a Switch that I use on the go, and a gaming computer to satisfy my needs! Think about the different factors and decide which platform is best for you. There might be multiple options!

A wacky guy who loves gaming, travelling and always willing to go to the movies. Enjoys making people laugh, even at inappropriate times. If he’s not on his computer, he can be found playing the ukulele or playing board games.
