Don’t Miss the Best Male Fashion Shows in the World
When it comes to the fashion industry, the battle of the sexes is still strong. Even if the target audience remains women, more and more designs are being created for men. Renowned designers and brands are competing in setting new trends for menswear or to put out a signature product.
The major fashion shows around the world dedicated for men are in January/February and June/July. Seasons are in, seasons are out… if you want to keep your wardrobe up to date with the latest fashion trends, you should keep an eye on these four major fashion events of the year:
For PFW the dates are set in January and in June. This event is renowned for the more avant-garde approach, so designers can really go all out; it is an occasion to showcase craftsmanship and to take place on the frontier of fashion. This is a great position for both established names in the business and newcomers to make a statement.
Dior was of course a hit in the June show with a line that featured couture embroidery that contested the standard view on masculinity; it boldly exposed sensitivity. The collection was inspired by archive material of Dior himself, so it has a really special significance. But a more casual-artsy person would rather turn to the Rochas collection.
Their man is a fashionable artist dressed in timidly colored soft fabrics, but he also hides more daring pieces in his wardrobe, like paint-covered trousers. The whole collection was surrounded by an air of a bohemian modern fairytale.

Following hot on the footsteps of Milano Moda Donna, the event dedicated to women’s fashion, Milano Moda Uomo is the version of the renowned international fashion event dedicated for men.
This is a huge venue where over 100 fashion shows are put on which attract a staggering number of people, more than 1.000 journalists and ten times the number of buyers.
So, the event is full house and fully booked. There are two yearly events to follow, the Fall/Winter collections are shown in January, while the Spring/Summer collection is shown in June.
Now, let’s take a look at some of this year’s highlights, starting with the Fall/Winter 2019-2020 collection. The main direction for men’s fashion continues to be gender ambiguity, as designers keep pushing the boundaries further. The most outstanding and critically acclaimed collections were those that did not shy away from the use of bold color and print.
Yet one of the most memorable shows, which stood out in a different way, was by the Italian fashion house Ermenegildo Zegna that took place at the Milano Centrale railway station. The setting was redesigned for the fashion show and it was certainly an element that made the event as a whole stand out. The clothes were in the darker tonalities of navy, plum, and grey, but what stood out was the exceptional tailoring, unique layering and the sporty twist on smart elegance.
To continue, the Spring/Summer 2020 collection had a couple of important brands missing, like Gucci and Prada, but the show was still amazing. Probably the biggest hit of the show was Versace’s collection that paid tribute to Keith Flint, who passed away in March.
The models sported boldly colored hair, anything from pink, blue to bright yellow, and hairstyles similar to those that Flint wore.
Bold pieces of leather and denim or leopard prints strutted down the runway, to an epic show that opened with the soundtrack of the one and only Firestarter.

It has been three years since New York Fashion Week and even if it is the last leg of the Fashion Week series, it offers a one of a kind experience that always creates a stir in the world of fashion. In this year’s Fall collections designers did not shy away from bold colors nor from plaid either.
It seems that plaid was the center theme. While from the Spring Summer collection one of the stand outs was Linder’s collection. The new pieces continued the line of thought based on ‘coming out’ and life after that. It is about acceptance and embracing oneself.

Now that we have taken you on a short trip through the main fashion capitals of the world, hopefully you got some inspiration from a least one if not from each.
Granted, fashion can be a bit out there sometimes and you can’t always just put on any piece from the runway and go to work, but do look for elements that are intriguing and see how you could adapt them.
The catwalks are super eclectic, while couture might not be your thing, something like street fashion or office wear might ring a familiar bell.
